Privacy Policy

Who we are
TLC Rental NYC (tlcrentalnyc.com) is an online marketplace where NYC TLC vehicle owners list cars and licensed drivers look for rentals. The owner and the driver arrange the deal directly. We do not own, rent, or operate the vehicles.
What we collect
Account
When you create an account we store:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your phone number
- Your password, stored as a hash, not as plain text
- Whether you signed up as a driver or a vehicle owner
Listings
When an owner saves a vehicle we store the fields they enter:
- Year, make, and model
- Weekly rate, deposit, and first-week amount
- A day rate calculated from the weekly rate
- Optional color, fuel type, wheelchair access, and a photo
- Optional insurance company name
- Optional license plate, which can be added when the listing is edited
A public listing shows the year, make, model, color, fuel type, wheelchair access, photo, and day rate, plus a rating if one is set. The public listing does not include the license plate, insurance company, deposit, first-week amount, weekly rate, or the owner's account. Photos are stored so a visible listing can show them.
Plan requests
If you request an owner plan we store which plan you asked for (Starter, Growth, or Fleet) and the request status: none, pending approval, active, or suspended.
Date requests
A signed-in driver can submit a date request on a listing. We store the start date, end date, the listing, a total based on the posted day rate, and a status. That request is not a payment and it is not a chat message.
Staff notes
If we talk with you about your account, staff may save private notes. Those notes are not part of a public listing.
Analytics
We use PostHog for product analytics. The browser sends page views, clicks, and product events (such as sign-up, sign-in, listing views, and plan requests) through our own /ingest address, which forwards them to PostHog. PostHog can also record a session replay when that feature is turned on. The same client can send a JavaScript error report.
Those events do not include your name, email, or phone number. After you sign in, we attach your account id and whether you are a driver or an owner.
Cookies and local storage
The site uses:
- A sign-in session cookie. The session can last up to 30 days.
- An analytics identifier from PostHog, kept in a cookie and in local storage.
To clear them, open your browser settings for tlcrentalnyc.com and delete cookies and site data. Signing out ends the sign-in session. Clearing site data also removes the analytics identifier.
How we use data
We use this information to:
- Run accounts and listings
- Connect owners and drivers
- Process plan requests
- Keep the site secure
- Improve the product
We don't sell personal information.
Who we share it with
We use these providers to host and run the site:
- Vercel, for hosting
- Supabase, for the Postgres database and for listing photos
- PostHog, for product analytics
Other users see only what a public listing shows. They do not see your license plate, insurance company, deposit, first-week amount, email, or phone number.
Access, correction, and deletion
Email tech@getrockettech.com from the email address on your account to ask for access, a correction, or deletion. We will respond within a reasonable time.
Children
This site is not for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
We may update this policy. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top of this page.
